At the Open House, APG sold samples of their promotional products. APG creates products for everyone from RBC to MasterCard to 3M. Through their sample sale, they raised $1,300 for the Ottawa Food Bank!

Thank you to everyone at APG. For every dollar donated, the Ottawa Food Bank is able to turn it into five dollars worth of food. Your donation will certainly go a long way.

St. Mark High School, a long time supporter of the Ottawa Food Bank, was looking for something a little different to do this spring, on top of the usual food drive they do in the fall.

Together, the students and teachers decided on Sandwich Making Day and made thousands of sandwiches to give to those in need. Fifty students hopped on a school bus with all their sandwiches and delivered them to Shepherds of Good Hope, Operation Come Home, and the Ottawa Food Bank.

In addition to the ready-made sandwiches, the students also left behind extra loaves of bread and jars of condiments!

Thank you to all involved at St. Mark High School. These sandwiches will go to some of our meal programs across the city and help fill some tummies!

Instead of holding a traditional gala to raise funds, we’re asking you to stay in for the night, and donate what you would have otherwise spent to the Ottawa Food Bank! It’s a NON-Gala Gala!

Stay in with friends and catch up on those seasons of Lost that you never watched, make seven-layer nachos, or play a board game! Do whatever you want for your own red-carpet affair.

Whatever you do for your Non-Gala Gala, tell us about it on our Facebook page. We’d love to hear and see how you spent your time – and you could WIN! We’ll be giving away dinner for two at Fraser Café and Zazaza Pizza!

Every year, during the Tenant-Landlord Spring Hope Food Drive, residential buildings throughout the city work together to collect non-perishable food donations for the Ottawa Food Bank. This year’s food drive has just come to a close and the participants did not disappoint!

With 200 buildings participating, a combined total of 130,000 pounds of food was donated!

Some of Our Friends from Rogers Communications

Derek Rhodenizer, the vice-principal at Heritage Academy, and his students have officially launched their long-anticipated Potato Project, as of Friday April 27th.

The public and participants were invited to the Heritage Academy to check it out and pick up their barrels. Approximately 60 people from all around the city picked up their barrels and learned how to properly grow the spuds. At the end of the harvest season, the potatoes are going to be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank.

With each barrel having the capacity to grow 40 pounds of potatoes, there is the possibility that a whopping two tons will be donated to the Ottawa Food Bank!

Donations such as this are so appreciated, as it allows us to add healthy fresh produce to the food orders we deliver to our 140 Member Agencies throughout Ottawa.
