Donate by Recycling
TURN YOUR OLD STUFF INTO FOOD.
That old stuff in your basement can do more than just take up space, it can help put food into the mouths of people who need it. We accept old ink cartridges and cell phones, and use the money from recycling them to buy food.
Ink Cartridge Program
We started this program in 2002, and have had great success collecting inkjet cartridges for recycling to benefit the Ottawa Food Bank. The program has grown over the years due to the participation from government departments and the business community. Not only are you helping us get more food to those in need, you’re also ensuring that your ink cartridge is recycled in an environmentally friendly way. Bring them to the Ottawa Food Bank, put them in a bag and drop them in a red bin at your local grocery store, or let us know if you have collected a large quantity and we can pick them up.
Phones for Food
The Ottawa Food Bank receives up to $4 for every used cell phone donated to us for this program. Since its launch in 2003, the Phones for Food program has been able to keep more than 500,000 cell phones out of our landfills and has distributed more that $750,000 to various food bank communities across Canada. Please help our cause and bring your old and used phones to the Ottawa Food Bank, put them in a bag and drop them in a red bin at your local grocery store, or let us know if you have collected a large quantity and we can pick them up.
