OTTAWA FOOD BANK

“Oh, Baby” – Operation Come Home

In Jessie’s house growing up, she never really had a lot of food. Her mother would bring her to food banks to get some groceries. While she didn’t really understand why people would give them free groceries, she was so happy they did. Her mother was a single parent of four kids and Jessie never really met her father. Now Jessie is 19 years old and is a single mom herself.

She has an apartment and is able to provide for her newborn daughter, but finds at times it’s really hard to make ends meet. She now takes her daughter to a play group called “Oh, Baby” at Operation Come Home where she can access food from the food bank.

Jessie works hard and never looked for an easy life, but having the food bank there gives her a helping hand and support when she needs it most.
