Sonya’s story

St Joe’s Women’s Centre

Sonya just recently arrived to Ottawa from Nigeria with three of her six children.  Her other children and husband are staying in their home country until they gather the means to come to Canada.

Hearing about the centre from the Family Shelter she is currently residing in, Sonya began to access several of our programs, such as our meal programs, school snacks, baby cupboard and emergency food bank.

Sonya is grateful for the support she receives from the centre.  Her way of given back to the centre, is her willingness to always give a helping hand.

“I came to Canada for a better quality of life for my children and I am still awaiting the arrival of my husband and other children.  In the meantime, the centre has been so helpful.  I am forever grateful.”
