OTTAWA FOOD BANK

Young woman at the J.F. Norwood House

Paula, a client of J.F. Norwood House lived in the residence for almost 18 months and benefitted from the weekly delivery from the Ottawa Food Bank of groceries as well as baby formula, diapers, etc. Though always generally appreciative of everything she was given, the client never specifically mentioned the items she received from the food bank each week. Almost one year after leaving J.F. Norwood, and living on her own in the community, Paula reconnected with her counselors to update them on how she was doing.

Paula explained that once she left J.F. Norwood, she was able to truly appreciate how generous and valuable the Ottawa Food Bank, its volunteers, and donors really are. She mentioned that looking back, she couldn’t imagine being able to make it on her own during that difficult period if she would not have had access to the food bank for herself and her daughter.
