Last month, an astounding $109,000 in donations was raised for the Ottawa Food Bank through the generosity of members and guests at the Rideau Club Gala.
Taking place on March 29, over 90 guests came together for an evening of community and connection. Local media personality and author, Samantha Laprade, captivated guests through laughter and emotion as she rallied the crowd to give generously in support of the Ottawa Food Bank.
The heartwarming generosity of attendees was complemented by a multitude of warm, memorable moments from the evening:
- Rideau Club President, Jane Brydges kicked off the Special Appeal with a leadership commitment of $10,000.
- Albert Lefebvre with the Walls and Ceilings Contractors Association of Ottawa, Acc-Par Systems, KORBAN and D.L Building Materials joyfully raised five paddles to pledge a gift of over $25,000 from local businesses.
- Ottawa BlackJacks’ President, Mark Wacyk, donated a generous prize to the live auction and spoke about his partner’s work at Belong Ottawa at The Well, a member agency of the Ottawa Food Bank network.
Donations from the evening will be supporting the Ottawa Food Bank’s Community Harvest program, a farming initiative that provides fresh fruit and vegetables to meet growing demands in Ottawa. In 2024, our farm yielded 152,992 pounds of fruit and vegetables.
