Mary has volunteered with the Ottawa Food Bank for one and a half years. Her work as an Administration (Admin) Support Volunteer includes monitoring and managing emails, preparing of client and agency notices, greeting and assisting guests, and much, much more.
“I did a fair bit of research before deciding to apply to the Ottawa Food Bank to work as a volunteer. I came to realize what an essential organization it is in our community and how much of its work goes unrecognized. I knew my work experiences could help and the staff and other volunteers have made me feel valued since I joined. ‘Food Bank’ people are incredible whether they be staff, volunteers, donors, or clients. I really appreciate the positive work environment the Ottawa Food Bank has created. There is no judgement, and everyone works to help those in need.”
The Ottawa Food Bank team comprises volunteers from every background with experiences that span the full skills spectrum.
Over 2600 people support the Ottawa Food Bank staff and work to help those who need it most. In 2024, one in four families in Ottawa relied on a local food bank or food program. At the Ottawa Food Bank, our volunteer team is deeply appreciated for supporting our mission.
